Since moving to New England two years ago, I have found it rather difficult to make a connection with people that would last. As a homegrown Southern girl, I enjoy saying “hi” to people I pass on the street and feel the need for social interaction in a relaxing atmosphere. In order to satisfy my need, I turned to a free online service called meetup.com. This website allows a person to search for specific groups of interest in his/her own city or town. I recently joined a knitting group right in my own town and a fitness group. I am really excited to meet some locals and share some common interests.
